On torsion-free modules and semi-hereditary rings

We prove several results concerning the structure theory of the class of semi-hereditary rings, focusing on the relationship between semi-hereditary rings and the flatness of torsion-free modules.

Polynomial Extensions and Localization of Non-Noetherian Cohen–Macaulay Rings

We show that the HMCM property (Cohen–Macaulay rings in the sense of Hamilton–Marley) is not preserved either under polynomial extensions or localization in general, and characterize when localization preserves torsion-freeness of modules.
